Regional planning of the Urban planning institute of Slovenia
Abstract
A brief account of the role of regional planning executed by and under the doctrine of the Urban planning institute is presented. Continuity in regional planning was sustained by the Institute although it was neglected as a possibility of planning and actually unrecognized in state policy and legislature. The institute carried out research including basic methodological studies, specific commissions on particular regional themas in Slovenia as well as elsewhere in Yugoslavia, ocassionally in cooperation with distinguished researchers from abroad. During the Yugoslav-American project, the institute was actually the center for the development of methods in urban and regional planning for this part of Europe.
